Ever wish your tasting room was going viral on Instagram? Imagine all of your future clients who dream about visiting your tasting room, all because someone shared.
My goal is to help winemakers be great at what they do. Sometimes that means finding the right barrels, but sometimes that means creating the right environment in your tasting room to make even the most discerning millennial swoon.
Here are some thoughts on how to make your tasting room Instagram-worthy so that everyone wants to come and sample your delicious wine.
What Makes a Tasting Room Shareable?
Last year I read a blog post by First Vine who questioned if social media might be influencing the way wineries design their tasting rooms.
For example, is there anything in a winery’s tasting room that might be worthy of a post on Instagram? Think…sharing!
First Vine’s observations were:
1) Tasting rooms are generally designed to show off the beauty of the OUTDOOR surroundings: rolling hills, rows of vines, beautiful gardens, etc.
2) Very few are designed to entice people to take photos of something INSIDE the tasting room. Let’s face it, wine bottles are not the most photogenic of subjects.
But nowadays, a large part of marketing is getting your customers to SHARE their experience with others. So why not use some creativity to encourage the sharing?
Wineries Doing it Right
Here are a few examples I’ve found of wineries with Instagram-worthy tasting rooms. You'll see, it takes just one wall or one corner of the room to make people want to snap a pic. It's not necessary to spend a lot of money. Just get creative!
